A 230V LED Driver circuit without using a transformer, the count it can be increased at your convineance. Due to the absence of Transformers we can reduce the cost and size of the circuit considerably. LED's are Cheap, efficient and cool device with low power consumption, so our electricity bills will be reduced to a great extent.


LED's commonly works only in DC, so we have to convert the alternating current to direct current and step down to a safe value before applying to the led sequence

How to make Power supply without Transformer?



Components Required:


  • 5 LED Bulbs
  • Rectifying Diodes (4  × 1N4007)
  • Electrolyte Capacitor (47uF)
  • Zener Diode (12v 1W)
  • Polyester Capacitor (0.47uF 400V)
  • Resistance(2 × 120 ohm 1/2W ) and (470k ohm 1/4W)



Note: The circuit is powered by 230V 50Hz ac supply, so be careful while troubleshooting this circuit.

It works on the principle of mutual induction. Since the induction is the property of a.c. circuit only, therefore a transformer can work on a.c. only and not on d.c.

          which is divided into two sections named as primary 
          and secondary.
